About the Project
The main objective was to transform the living room and long entrance hallway into spaces that provide generous storage, clearly defined functions and a cohesive, uncluttered appearance.
The approximately 28.5 m² living room was divided into a comfortable lounge area with the sofa and TV and a separate dining area. A large wardrobe was also integrated into the room, as the separate kitchen did not provide enough space for a dining table or additional storage.
The existing dark reddish-brown flooring was another important consideration. We therefore designed the new furniture in a light combination of matte white, wood and black accents, respecting the existing elements while giving the space a fresher and lighter appearance.
TV Wall & Open Partition
The centre of the living area is a furniture composition connecting the TV wall with the open partition between the living and dining areas.
The TV wall features an asymmetrical composition, adding movement while preventing the unit from feeling too large or visually heavy. A combination of wall-mounted closed cabinets, open shelving and a lower TV unit provides generous storage while maintaining a sense of lightness.
The composition continues into the open partition beside the sofa. Extending from floor to ceiling, it provides space for books, decorative objects and personal items. Its asymmetrical shelving echoes the geometry of the TV wall and creates a consistent visual language throughout the room.
The partition also clearly defines the living and dining areas without closing them off. Its open structure preserves sightlines between the zones and maintains the feeling of space.
The combination of matte white, wood and black accents connects the entire composition with the rest of the furniture throughout the apartment.
Large Wardrobe Integrated into the Living Space
The dining area also needed to accommodate substantial storage. We therefore designed a large wardrobe that makes full use of the available wall while avoiding the impression of a dominant solid block.
The predominantly white finish is combined with wood details, visually connecting the wardrobe with the TV wall, partition and flooring.
The result is generous storage capacity without unnecessarily overwhelming the room.
Built-in Furniture for the Entrance Hallway
The long and narrow entrance hallway required maximum use of the available space without making it feel even more confined. We therefore designed bespoke furniture that combines everyday functionality with a clean and cohesive appearance.
At the entrance, a compact cabinet incorporates an open niche for coats, a comfortable seating area and shoe storage. This continues seamlessly into a full-height built-in wardrobe providing generous storage for clothing and everyday belongings.
Clean, closed fronts were chosen deliberately to prevent the long hallway from becoming visually cluttered. The wardrobe also flows around the interior door and makes use of the space above it, creating one continuous built-in composition from floor to ceiling.
Light grey finishes combined with wood details connect the new furniture with the existing elements of the apartment while giving the hallway a fresher and lighter appearance.
