About the project
The project involved creating a completely new interior for a small family-owned farm shop selling the owners’ own meat and dairy products, homemade baked goods, seasonal produce and other farm products.
The original 31 m² space was in very poor condition and required a complete renovation. The project included new electrical and plumbing installations, new wall, ceiling and floor finishes, a new entrance door, lighting and completely redesigned interior equipment.
The main challenge was the narrow and elongated layout. Measuring approximately 3 × 10 metres, the space had to accommodate large refrigerated display cases, a sales counter, storage and product displays, as well as a functional working area. At the same time, there needed to be enough space for customers to move comfortably through the shop.
The owner wanted a contemporary interior with loft-inspired elements, while keeping the overall budget reasonable. We therefore combined accessible materials such as wood, laminate and decorative brick with carefully considered lighting and custom-designed elements.
The refrigerated displays were treated as an integral part of the interior rather than simply technical equipment. Their placement, together with the wooden details, brick surfaces and lighting, creates a cohesive composition throughout the shop.
The sales counter is visually highlighted by a custom wooden ceiling structure with track lighting. Additional LED lighting was incorporated into different areas of the shop to emphasise products and add warmth to the interior.
Near the entrance, we created a compact presentation area with a wine display, a large chalkboard for the current product selection and a dedicated place for seasonal fruit and vegetables. The layout allows the owners to easily update the information according to the products available each day.
Behind the sales counter, the working area was designed for the practical needs of the staff, including preparing, cutting and weighing products. We also considered everyday details such as providing a convenient place for customers’ shopping bags and smaller items.
To prevent the relatively small space from feeling visually heavy, the decorative brick was balanced with light grey painted surfaces. This creates a contrast between the more industrial character of the brick and the warmth of the wooden elements.
A distinctive 3D illuminated logo completes the interior. It works not only as a visual focal point but also as an important part of the shop’s identity.
The result is a compact but fully functional retail space that accommodates both sales and daily operations without compromising the customer experience. The interior combines practical planning, accessible materials and distinctive design details to create a space that reflects the character of the family farm and its products.
